Recent Accomplishments

Allegheny Health Network
Aramark was selected to be the primary commissioning partner with this growing healthcare system and is currently commissioning all projects within the organization. These projects include major upgrades to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within existing facilities as well as new and major renovations throughout the entire system. Aramark was selected for its reputation, size, and experience with healthcare commissioning. Additionally, our ability to support the growth through staffing commissioning projects locally, as well as staffing immediate needs with experienced people from our nationwide commissioning team, made us an obvious selection for a growing organization.

New York State Office of Mental Health
The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) operates psychiatric centers across New York State that serve more than 700,000 individuals a year. OMH regulates, certifies and oversees more than 4,500 programs which are operated by local governments and non-profit agencies. The psychiatric centers encompass 484 Buildings covering 15,641,002 square feet, and with a utility budget that exceeds $33 million annually. Since 1991, the Aramark team Aramark’s relationship and collaboration with OMH have provided: a comprehensive energy program, the integration of new technologies, energy planning and procurement support, and facility operation services to support and maintain the growth and aspirations of OMH. Some of the noteworthy accomplishments are highlighted below:

Over $500 million in energy cost savings since the inception of the program.
Over $14.4 million from negotiations, procurement strategies, and consultations with OMH and service contractors.
In excess of $4.1 million through absorption of risk.
Over $3.6 million resulting from the utilization of facility staff and alternative funding mechanisms.
Over $850,000 in fuel procurement savings during the last year.

Pennsylvania State University – Milton S. Hershey Medical Center

In 1963, the Milton S. Hershey foundation donated $50M to The Pennsylvania State University to establish a medical school and teaching hospital in Hershey, PA. The College of Medicine opened in 1967 and the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center accepted its first patients in 1970. Construction is ongoing at the facilities, and current funding exceeds $1B for projects slated over the next three years.

Coat tailing a long-term relationship with Penn State, Aramark commissioning was selected to perform commissioning in 2015 on the Support Services Building at the Medical Center. Since that time, Aramark commissions all projects on campus in the main hospital as well as outpatient buildings. Aramark was selected as a result of the commissioning success that we have provided for over 50 projects within the Pennsylvania State University System.

UPMC Altoona – Various Healthcare Projects

In November, 2010, UPMC Altoona reached out to Aramark for a quotation to provide commissioning services for several combined projects that were either underway or in design. Although not the lowest price, Aramark provided the healthcare experience, personnel, and comprehensive scope of services exceeding UPMC Altoona’s expectations of the commissioning process. Since that time, Aramark has been contracted to perform commissioning on over 12 different projects throughout the Hospital complex. Over the past 2.5 years, Aramark has identified challenges, saving UPMC over $50K annually in energy savings, avoided unnecessary capital expenditures, decreased maintenance costs through verifying contractor accuracy, and assured patient comfort.

We pride ourselves on being actively engaged in the field, working with installing contractors and operations personnel during functional testing with our own calibrated tools, if necessary. Our commissioning agents are well versed in many different control systems and understand the logic behind the operation of the graphical interface. As a result of this approach, we identify many issues that otherwise would have gone undetected from a design engineer approach to commissioning. The Aramark commissioning team has led projects at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Museum of Natural History, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Since 2013, the Aramark construction team has been supporting the Archdiocese of New York which encompasses more than 1,900 properties, totaling over 40 million square feet across the five New York City boroughs and the lower part of New York State. With facility types including schools, churches, offices, residences, seminaries, and nursing homes.

As a service organization, we believe it is critical that our team maintain a presence onsite throughout a project. Our team presence facilitates close coordination with project teams throughout the project planning, design, construction, and project closeout phases. Our approach is to maintain client collaboration and continuity, and proactively identify issues that can be corrected and resolved early in the stages of a project.
